Solid and high-quality item, I would highly recommend if you're trying to set up a nice long campaign that involves many different maps. The overlayable acetate sheets allow for a lot of different customization and even drawing things on top last minute, in case you want to make changes. Awesome buy!

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt the need for this one. 100% one of the greatest purchases for D&D I've ever made. I highly recommend this product. Nice, big 35 by 47 square area. Dry erase markers show up amazingly. Very well made. Couldn't be happier. Only issue I had was when I picked up the tube the cap broke loose on both ends. Nothing a little super glue didn't fix and honestly this thing may never leave my gaming table so all the tube does is hold the hex overlay. Though I wouldn't mind being able to buy spare overlays.

This mat and overlays is very well made and will last a lifetime :-) If you are taking it with you from session to session it's a bit tough to get in back in the tube, but eh, some cheap velcro ties from the local hardware store resolved that issue. Highly recommend this product. Group had fun playing on paper maps once again over digital.

I have these made by at least 5 “popular” sellers that I have picked up at Cons or online. I have paid $30-75 for a SINGLE map, albeit the $75 one being neoprene and a bit larger than these. That said, these are hands down an incredible value, and if you pass them up for literally anything else you… are dumb.

It isn’t just that they are a good “value” though. They are made from extremely good material that will keep a LONG time. The squares are readily visible regardless of map color (difficult to find in maps, believe it or not), and they give you markers, a great eraser, and must-use spray, though I did find that I prefer my own dry erase market collection that is clean and visible with their fantastic easy-to-see lines.

More than all this though, they recognize people are moving these around and storing them rolled, so they give you a REALLY high quality tube that is the perfect size and has great portability for years to come. They also give you plastic end weights you just slide onto the map edges that prevent the map from tolling up during game play.

The affordability v. the value here is a joke. The beauty of these maps alone is worth it, but add in the storage tube, their reusability, and the quality, and these CANNOT be beat.

My D&D -loving son was ecstatic to get these for Christmas. They are great for a variety of campaigns and the carrying case is a really great bonus. The graphics are clean and colorful and the maps seem pretty sturdy. I think they will give him a lot of exciting adventures.

Works well. I shopped around a lot thinking maybe I should get a gameboard type mat to be more sturdy, but those all had issues breaking or peeling. This mat has worked well and is easy to use and clean. I might get a second one just so I don't have to redraw the map if we hit more than one encounter in a session. I did buy expo dry erase fine point markers. The mat directions instruct using a little water spray to erase to avoid staining. I do that and it doesn't stain. It comes with a little spray bottle you can fill with water. I like that it needs water to erase so what I draw doesn't rub off easily. Erasers are also efficient. If I get another one, I will buy this one again.

Perfect for my sessions! Love that it is waterproof and erasable. Used it for one of my sessions two days after it arrived and my players loved it (didn’t love my artistic abilities) and it was really helpful when navigating a hideout. Definitely recommend it to any DM

Edit: Customer service from Melee Mats is fantastic and after I reached out to them for tips for removing the wrinkles, I was sent a replacement at no cost. It just arrived, so I have not had a chance to use it and verify that it will not develop the same issues, but I wanted to update my review in light of the customer service provided.I will revisit this review in a couple months of play to see if it earns the five stars or if this one wrinkles as well.Original Review:I purchased this mat just before we went into quarantine and the first time I used it, it seemed great. I stored it according to the instructions included, and when I took it out to use it a couple months later, it had developed a couple of wrinkles in the lamination. I was able to smooth them out to just ridges, but when I unrolled it to use at the next game the wrinkles had multiplied. I have used it for less than six games and it now has so many wrinkles that it is hard to erase and barely usable.I would not recommend this product unless you intend to lay it flat once and never move it again. Even then, I cannot vouch for it because I have not been able to test it in that manner.

I ordered a Melee Mats product because my tabletop group has used one for the last two to three years and it is still in great shape. My 11 year old wanted one, so I turned to a trusted company, with a product that is known to last. The mat itself is smooth and ready to use. It comes with a small pack of markers, a bottle for water, and an eraser. The gridlines are clear and easy to see. The mat itself feels sturdy. I've seen some that feel like a stiff breeze will rip a hole in it. The marker comes off without having to put some pressure on it while erasing.Awesome mat. Do yourself the favor and really look at this mat for your gaming needs.

These are really great battle boards, my group uses them every session for any type of map we may need! They work with both dry and wet erase markers. Even the box can be used as a battle board, the double sided terrains are great for covering a lot of different environments, and the boards are thick and sturdy. The vinyl stickers aren’t great size wise, but they were just a little extra thing anyway, the boards themselves were worth the money alone!

So I already reviewed the "dungeon" colored mat, but since I also got this one, I figured I'd add a similar review here. This mat is awesome. The color is light enough that you can use just about any color dry-erase or wet-erase markers, and they're easily visible. The dungeon mat was a bit too dark for the blue marker, but this one is excellently colored. I DM for a large group (8 people) and at a bigger table not everyone can always reach their minis, so being able to use the compass rose to call out directions is super helpful for moving PCs around. The mat rolls up really nicely, and when it unrolls it doesn't crease or warp. It can curl at the edges a little but that's easily solved with a couple small weights. I've actually used the spray bottle included to weigh down a corner and it works great. The spray bottle works great, and so do the markers. The only thing I don't love about the package is the eraser included, I'd recommend using a rag of some sort instead. But really, you're paying for the mat and the eraser's a bonus, I'm not exactly biasing the review because the eraser was bad. You do certainly need the spray bottle or another source of water to remove marker from the mat, but that's not a disappointment at all, in fact it's a point in favor. I can roll up the mat without erasing, pack it up, and unfurl it again the next week with only minor touch-ups.I really really recommend this mat. It's honestly so nice.

It's a very nice and affordable mat. So first, the mat itself - it's a bit different than other maps I have had. The expensive maps tend to be more like a neoprene with a top layer of plastic and cheaper ones are like laminated cardstock. This mat does a great job of splitting the difference. The thickness is a bit like plastic folder material but it is smoother. The top is very much like laminate. It also rolls up very smoothly and the grid print is very nice, clear and all around just what we wanted. It DOES have a tendency to keep the roll on the ends when you lay it out, so if possible, lay it out plat for an hour or so before play. (weight the corners if possible - we use little bags of dice) All around, the mat is exactly what I expected from the description. It wiped clean easily using water and the eraser or a soft cloth. No problems. (We didn't actually test the red, which is notorious for being annoying on dry erase though). Now for the best part of the mat: We had an issue with ours and the customer service was excellent! I bought this mat for my son for his birthday and I purchased it fairly early. With everything that was happening in summer 2020, he didn't really get to use the mat as quickly as possible, so it was several months AFTER my purchase that he laid the map out flat for a couple of weeks (on our gaming table between sessions), when we came back the top layer had wrinkled in several places. It didn't really make the mat entirely unusable, but it would have been annoying to clean, etc. I contacted the company (there is an info sticker on the back of the mat) and they immediately sent a replacement mat and followed up to make sure I received it. The new mat hasn't had the same issue so far and seems fine, but I will update it that changes.

I've been playing for 15 years and in that time I've used quite a few mats, THESE are not only durable, but they're genuinely beautifully made and EVERYTHING about it is functional (the storage on both halves have functional grid as well). Great, foldable, adjustable size with a satisfying thickness. 10/10 already recommending to my friends!

I tested the markers on day one when I opened the box, the eraser works great and I can redraw as much as needed. The maps are big and thick like 2 or 3 mm. No flimsy material. You should still fold and stop carefully so as not to damage the "hinge" but all in all great product for the price. You can even use the box for a hill or a coliseum. The under side is a tavern I think. Oh and the stickers do exactly as described they stick and come off no residue left behind! If you're new to D&D like me, you can use just your imagination but for the price and quality I say pick this up. I plan on buying mini rocks trees and shrubs later but the ability to draw them now is sufficient. Great product!

As someone who has recently started being a Game Master for my group in DnD, I love this product!!I used this a few nights ago for a session and it was great to have the players visualize the town I drew, as well as combat areas such as, forests, caves or even dungeons. Like the description says, they provide you with dry erase markers that have an eraser tip that activates when dipped in water, but you don't necessarily need the eraser tip if you use a spray bottle for water and a couple of paper towels. (it's an easier way to erase the marks you made on the board than having to use the tiny eraser tip.). My only issue with the product is that they send it to you rolled up rather than folded. Being someone who like space management, I like things that fit into my backpack instead of having to lug around a rolled up game mat. I'm sure some people wouldn't mind carrying it around, but that's just me. When you do roll out the mat for the first time it is a little challenging to make it stay flat, so I recommend putting things that are heavy on each of the corners to make it stay flat. Since I folded it, I don't have this problem, but be in mind that when you do fold it you are going to get creases in the game mat, which won't make it look nice. (Some parts of the game mat will be higher than others, I don't mind this.). All in all this product is perfect if you're on a low budget and need something to help bring your DnD world to life!Pros:- Perfect for a Game Master on a low budget.- Can draw anything on the game mat from towns to dungeons- Can use it for other tabletop games, not just DnD!- Dry erase markers are providedCons:- Space management is a problem, when on the go.- Erasing with the eraser on the marker is time consuming.- Because it's laminated, when it folds it leaves creases. (not a major problem for me)- needs heavy objects just to keep it from rolling back up and to lay it flat.

Great quality, super easy to use, and durable enough to survive even the most chaotic goblin ambush. One of the dry erase markers is starting to give up the ghost—probably failed its last Constitution saving throw—but hey, it was a freebie! No complaints there.

Would I recommend these? Absolutely.

100% chance of critical hit on your tabletop setup.

Just don’t try to use them as actual shields… unless your DM allows improvised armor.

Very useful in gameplay. Big fan of the functional storage, and I love quickly drawing battle maps. Amazing for when players pick a fight where it wasn’t planned and you don’t want to do theatre of the mind.

These are great. I got this for my son. He is not the best with his possessions. These maps are holding up beautifully. The case is really sturdy. I like that the case is expandable and accommodates more items in it. The chalk pens wipe easily off the maps when cleaning them and stay well on during gameplay. The grid lines are to scale. Maps are printed and coated well. Nice detailing on maps.

I recently acquired the TIDYBOSS Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set, which includes three double-sided 24x36 game grid mats, and unfortunately, my experience with this product was less than satisfactory. Here's why I wouldn't recommend it:

Flimsy Material: The quality of the game grid mats is disappointing. They are made of thin and flimsy material that feels cheap and easily creases. The mats lack durability and are prone to tearing, especially with regular use and transportation to different gaming sessions.

Poor Print Quality: The print quality of the grid mats is subpar. The lines and markings on the grids are often faint and inconsistent, making it difficult to distinguish between squares and accurately track movements during gameplay. The lack of clarity detracts from the overall gaming experience and can lead to confusion among players.

Limited Durability: Despite being marketed as starter set essentials, these grid mats lack the durability needed for long-term use. After just a few uses, I noticed signs of wear and tear, including fraying edges and fading prints. The mats do not hold up well over time and require frequent replacement, making them a poor investment in the long run.

Inadequate Size: While the dimensions of the grid mats are advertised as 24x36 inches, they feel inadequate for accommodating larger gaming setups or multiple players. The limited size restricts creativity and flexibility in designing game scenarios, often requiring players to make compromises or adjustments during gameplay.

Lack of Versatility: Despite offering double-sided options, the grid mats lack versatility in terms of design and layout. The grids are generic and uninspiring, lacking the thematic elements and customization options that enhance immersion and engagement in tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons.

Overpriced for Quality: Considering the poor quality and limited functionality of the TIDYBOSS Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set, the price point is unjustifiably high. There are more affordable alternatives on the market that offer better quality and performance, making this starter set an unwise investment for aspiring dungeon masters and players.

In conclusion, the TIDYBOSS Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set, featuring three double-sided 24x36 game grid mats, fails to meet expectations in terms of material quality, print clarity, durability, size adequacy, versatility, and value for money. I would not recommend this starter set to anyone seeking reliable and immersive gaming accessories for their Dungeons and Dragons adventures.

I am in love with these maps! If you are wanting a set to get started with dnd or pathfinder, these are the way to go. Not only does it have a tube storage option for space saving purposes, but it also contains these plastic slips that help keep the map flat when in use. These maps have been used several times by both adults and children and have stood the teat of time. They also write on and erase easily with dry erase markers. The square grid is easy to see without being overwhelming on the design. Speaking of the design, it does not look pixelated, it looks like beautiful artwork.

These maps are great for dungeons and dragons, good grid sizes, and the different backgrounds are nice options depending on the terrain of the game setting
